BookJot Privacy Policy

This document is provided in English and Thai.
If there is any conflict between the two versions, the English version shall prevail.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how BookJot ("the Service") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when users access or use the Service.

BookJot is operated by an independent developer based in Thailand.

BookJot is currently a beta product. Some features may change over time, and this Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect those changes.

2. Information We Collect

BookJot may collect the following categories of information.

Account and Authentication Information

When users create or use an account, the Service may collect:

email address
authentication provider information
account identifiers
profile information such as display name

Users may sign in using email and password, Google sign-in, or an anonymous guest session where available.

User Library and Reading Data

Users may choose to store personal activity and library data, such as:

books added to their library
wishlist and favorite flags
copies, purchases, and borrowings
reading logs and reading sessions
personal tags and reviews

Public Contributions

Users may choose to contribute content that can appear publicly, such as:

ratings
reactions
reviews
public tags
public collections

Uploaded Files

The Service may store uploaded files, such as book cover images or related media provided by users or administrators.

Legal and Consent Records

The Service may store records showing when a user accepted legal documents or selected cookie/analytics preferences.

Technical and Usage Information

Infrastructure and analytics providers may collect technical information needed to operate the Service, such as:

IP address
browser and device information
request logs
general usage and performance information

3. How We Use Information

BookJot may use collected information to:

operate and maintain the Service
authenticate users and manage accounts
store personal library and reading data
display public community features
generate aggregated community statistics
keep the Service secure and stable
understand product usage and improve functionality
comply with legal obligations

4. Public and Private Data

Some information on BookJot is private by default, while some features allow users to mark content as public.

Public content may appear in community-facing areas, including:

aggregated rating summaries
reaction summaries
tag summaries
review displays
public collections

If privacy settings are enabled, usernames or profile information may be hidden or partially masked in some public views.

Private data remains visible only to the account owner unless the user explicitly shares it through a public feature.

5. Account Deletion and Data Retention

User data is retained for as long as needed to operate the Service.

When a user deletes an account:

private personal data is deleted where reasonably possible
some public contributions may remain in anonymized form to preserve community information

This may include certain public reviews, public tags, or public collections after the user identity is removed.

6. Cookies, Local Storage, and Similar Technologies

BookJot uses essential browser storage and similar technologies to support core product behavior, such as:

sign-in state
session handling
UI preferences
consent preferences
an anonymous browser token used to prevent ordinary duplicate votes in public campaigns

The public voting token is stored as a secure browser cookie. BookJot stores only a one-way hash of that random token with the campaign vote. It is not linked to an account, email address, raw IP address, or device fingerprint. Public campaign pages may display aggregate vote totals.

If the user chooses to allow analytics, BookJot may also enable analytics tools that use cookies or similar technologies.

7. Third-Party Services

BookJot relies on third-party providers to operate the Service. Depending on the feature in use, these providers may process personal or technical data on our behalf.

Current or planned providers may include:

Supabase, for authentication, database, and file storage
Vercel, for hosting, infrastructure, and optional analytics
Google, for Google sign-in and advertising services such as AdSense
payment providers such as Stripe, if paid features or payments are introduced in the future

These providers process data according to their own terms and privacy policies.

8. Analytics

BookJot currently offers optional analytics consent.

If a user accepts analytics, the Service may collect general product usage information through analytics tools in order to understand traffic, performance, and product usage.

If a user does not accept analytics, BookJot should continue using only essential storage needed for core functionality.

9. Advertising

The Service may display advertising to some users.

Advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure advertisements. If advertising is enabled, BookJot may use services such as Google AdSense.

Advertising behavior may differ depending on product tier, feature availability, or future subscription settings.

10. Data Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information handled by the Service. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's Privacy

BookJot is not intended for children under the age of 13.

Users must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.

Updated versions will be published with a new version number or effective date.

2. ข้อมูลที่เราเก็บรวบรวม

BookJot อาจเก็บข้อมูลในหมวดต่อไปนี้

ข้อมูลบัญชีและการยืนยันตัวตน

เมื่อผู้ใช้สร้างหรือใช้งานบัญชี ระบบอาจเก็บ:

ข้อมูลผู้ให้บริการยืนยันตัวตน

ข้อมูลทางกฎหมายและการให้ความยินยอม

ระบบอาจเก็บหลักฐานว่าผู้ใช้ยอมรับเอกสารทางกฎหมายหรือเลือกการตั้งค่า cookie/analytics เมื่อใด

ข้อมูลทางเทคนิคและการใช้งาน

4. ข้อมูลสาธารณะและข้อมูลส่วนตัว

ข้อมูลบางประเภทใน BookJot เป็นข้อมูลส่วนตัวโดยค่าเริ่มต้น ขณะที่บางฟีเจอร์เปิดให้ผู้ใช้กำหนดเนื้อหาเป็นสาธารณะได้

หากเปิดใช้การตั้งค่าความเป็นส่วนตัว ชื่อผู้ใช้หรือข้อมูลโปรไฟล์บางส่วนอาจถูกซ่อนหรือปิดบังบางส่วนในหน้าสาธารณะ

ข้อมูลส่วนตัวยังคงมองเห็นได้เฉพาะเจ้าของบัญชี เว้นแต่ผู้ใช้จะเลือกเผยแพร่ผ่านฟีเจอร์สาธารณะด้วยตนเอง

5. การเก็บรักษาข้อมูลและการลบบัญชี

ข้อมูลของผู้ใช้จะถูกเก็บไว้เท่าที่จำเป็นต่อการให้บริการ

เมื่อผู้ใช้ลบบัญชี:

ข้อมูลส่วนตัวที่เป็นส่วนบุคคลจะถูกลบเมื่อสามารถทำได้อย่างสมเหตุสมผล
เนื้อหาสาธารณะบางส่วนอาจยังคงอยู่ในรูปแบบที่ไม่สามารถระบุตัวตนได้ เพื่อรักษาความต่อเนื่องของข้อมูลชุมชน

ระบบเก็บโทเคนสำหรับการโหวตสาธารณะไว้ใน secure browser cookie โดย BookJot จะเก็บเฉพาะค่า hash แบบย้อนกลับไม่ได้ของโทเคนสุ่มนั้นร่วมกับคะแนนโหวต โทเคนนี้ไม่เชื่อมโยงกับบัญชี อีเมล IP address แบบดิบ หรือ device fingerprint และหน้าแคมเปญสาธารณะอาจแสดงผลรวมของคะแนนโหวต

หากผู้ใช้ยินยอมให้ใช้ analytics ระบบอาจเปิดใช้เครื่องมือวิเคราะห์ที่ใช้ cookies หรือเทคโนโลยีใกล้เคียงเพิ่มเติม

7. ผู้ให้บริการภายนอก

BookJot ใช้ผู้ให้บริการภายนอกเพื่อให้บริการระบบ โดยขึ้นอยู่กับฟีเจอร์ที่ใช้งาน ผู้ให้บริการเหล่านี้อาจประมวลผลข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลหรือข้อมูลทางเทคนิคแทนเรา

ผู้ให้บริการปัจจุบันหรือที่อาจถูกใช้ในอนาคต ได้แก่

Supabase สำหรับ authentication, database และ file storage
Vercel สำหรับ hosting, infrastructure และ optional analytics

8. Analytics

ปัจจุบัน BookJot เปิดให้ผู้ใช้เลือกยินยอมต่อ analytics ได้

หากผู้ใช้ยอมรับ analytics ระบบอาจเก็บข้อมูลการใช้งานโดยรวมผ่านเครื่องมือวิเคราะห์ เพื่อทำความเข้าใจการเข้าชม ประสิทธิภาพ และรูปแบบการใช้งาน

หากผู้ใช้ไม่ยอมรับ analytics ระบบควรใช้เฉพาะ storage ที่จำเป็นต่อการทำงานหลักของบริการ

9. โฆษณา

บริการอาจแสดงโฆษณาแก่ผู้ใช้บางกลุ่ม

ผู้ให้บริการโฆษณาอาจใช้ cookies หรือเทคโนโลยีที่คล้ายกันเพื่อแสดงและวัดผลโฆษณา หากมีการเปิดใช้งานโฆษณา BookJot อาจใช้บริการเช่น Google AdSense

ลักษณะการแสดงโฆษณาอาจแตกต่างกันตาม product tier, ฟีเจอร์ที่เปิดใช้, หรือการตั้งค่าการสมัครสมาชิกในอนาคต

10. ความปลอดภัยของข้อมูล

มีการใช้มาตรการทางเทคนิคและการจัดการที่เหมาะสมเพื่อปกป้องข้อมูลที่อยู่ในระบบ อย่างไรก็ตาม ไม่มีบริการออนไลน์ใดสามารถรับประกันความปลอดภัยได้อย่างสมบูรณ์

11. การใช้งานของผู้เยาว์

BookJot ไม่ได้ออกแบบมาสำหรับเด็กอายุต่ำกว่า 13 ปี

ผู้ใช้ต้องมีอายุอย่างน้อย 13 ปีจึงจะสามารถใช้บริการได้

12. การเปลี่ยนแปลงนโยบาย

นโยบายความเป็นส่วนตัวฉบับนี้อาจมีการปรับปรุงเป็นระยะ

เวอร์ชันที่อัปเดตจะถูกเผยแพร่พร้อมเลขเวอร์ชันใหม่หรือวันที่มีผลบังคับใช้ใหม่
